Hi folks, while i was out of town my dad decided he wanted to work on my car. he replaced the ps and alternator belt the tensions seems good and my harmonic balancer is still in good shape but now my car starts then dies not to mention the annoying five seconds of squealing. I checked alignment of the pulleys/belts,tension of the belts and the harmonic balancer. what am i missing?

Thanks in advance
Jay

Belt flex on the power steering and alternator belts are only 7-11mm of deflection. Sometimes the belt seems taught, but in fact it is out of spec. If anything, just tighten 'em up a bit and see if that helps. It seems as if the alternator belt is very loose.

The car is fixed! i just took the belts he put on off and replaced them with oem belts tightened them to spec checked everything over turned the key and its running fine. Thanks for the suggestion blcknspo0ln i appreciate it.
