im ordering it on monday...so i need some help...i was thinking centerforce....but from where? and its a daily driver...i like to get on it alot...and i will be taking it to the strip from time to time...(went last night but didnt race it yet...i want a new clutch)...any ways...is everyone gonna tell me to get ACT? or......
oh yeah...and it used to grind quite often...till i did that adjustment to that nut behind the pedal...but lately its been grinding going from 2-3...is that the tranny? or clucth? it only does it when i am TRYING to drive fast...if im going slow ...then its gravy...(kinda chunky though...)
anyways thats it...thanks for now.

I have not ever heard of anyone disliking the ACT clutches. I HAVE heard of people being upset with the CF clutch systems.

I am using a 2600/streetdisc-Streetlite Flywheel combo and the pedal pressure is nothing to even mention. You will not be dissappointed with the ACT.

As for the tranny...

The stock tranny is not meant to shift from any gear in the high rpm range unless it has been rebuilt and modified. The 2nd and 3rd syncro are said to be the first to go. I would plan on a rebuild in the near future. If you are getting the tranny out to put in a new clutch, you might aswell save yourself some labor and/or man hours and send it out.

Maybe even give Shep and John at TRE an email to see what they think. They are both great with the DSM tranny.

ok...so if i go with the 26000....am i going to be breaking anything? or is that only gonna happen with more horsepower than what i have...and if i would dump it or somthing....
as for the rebuild...im gonna have to wait on that....i dont have the time or money for it now...this is my only car and i drive it to work everyday...
maybe if i got a 2g as and extra......

oh yeah...i almost forgot...i have penzoillsyncromesh in it...should i replace with bg syncroshift? ive been thinking about it for a while...is it much better? guess it couldnt hurt?

You will not break anything unless the adjustment is not made and you have too much pressure on the fork. Make sure the adjustment is done before the first drive and then keep checking it.

The rebuild is probly down the road a bit, unless you get on it all the time you whould be ok for alittle while.

You might be good with just a 2100, but if it was my money and time I would spendthe $30-$50 more for the 2600. Just incase your power needs grow. ;)

What kind of HP are you making or wanting to make?

That is good enough.

It doesn't hurt to try something new in this case. As long as you are going to another syncromesh type fluid you should be fine. :thumb:

oh...ill deff be getting the 2600 if i go act....as for hp....well...i dont know...ill prolly just end up replaceing the fuel pump...ill be putting a 3" exhaust on it...ill have my new clutch...and whatever else i need for the basic mods....maybe more later...but thats what im planning on right now...what kind of power does that give?

There are threads like this on every DSM board, but I'll add my two cents anyways...

I have a ClutchMasters FX400 ceramic puck in my 90 AWD. I also have put a 4 bolt in there as well. I have very light mods, and can still chirp my tires. My clutch engages fully about an inch from the floor. I have had it for about 2 years now and it is as sticky as the day I bought it.

The way I was taught was like this:

The ACT relies on a stiffer diaphram to grip better (hence the sore left legs....) whereas the CM relies on better and stronger disks to engage the clutch to the flywheel. I have compared an ACT2600 with a NAPA Auto Parts clutch for a 90 Eagle Talon TSi AWD. With the exception of the diaphram, and the color, they were identical. They were made of the same material exactly.

Now, I am not a mechanic, nor am I a DSM expert, but even I could tell that they were very similar.
