Hey, as you probably can tell i'm somewhat of a newbie here. Anyway, one of my friends and I moved my amp. (for my speakers, not subs) to behind the drivers seat instead of the trunk where it was previously. Originally we wanted to put it under the seat, but as we found out the seat is like an inch away from the ground. Is there anyway to get an amp under there (any amps small enough even?) or should i just make a false floor to cover it up. If anyone has any suggestions i would really appreciate it. Thanks.

put it back where it was, cause theres little room for a "false floor" behind the drivers seat and there will be no room under the drivers seat most likely because i think the drivers seat is electric. all the parts that make mine move are stowed under the seat leaving no clearance.

my seat isn't electric (1990 eagle talon tsi awd), i moved the amp because when i want to put subs in i am going to have to run off two amps because of the way the previous owner hacked the wiring harness. By having two amps in my tiny trunk I'll have even less space. If I got aftermarket seats (Ralliart) would the amp fit under the seat?

Since you have aftermarket seats no one can really tell you for sure. I suggest unplugging your amp (please disconnect your battery just as a precaution), and sliding it under your seat If there is enough room for it to fit without rubbing or any other issues, then un bolt your seat and screw down the amp, wire it up, reconnect your battery (neg wire should be first out and last in, I believe is the correct procedure - please correct me if im wrong), put your seat back in and you're in business :thumb:

hey guys, i figured out what im going to do. i found an amp small enough to fit in the raised section of my drivers seat (stock 1G seat). so what im going to do is bold the amp to the bottom of the seat and run the wires under the carpet and give them enough slack to let me slide back and forth in the seat without tearing anything. this should be a very clean install. if anyone wants pics ask me. should be getting the new amp within the next week.

well, what you can do is place your amps in the lil corners in your hatch area, you know, the lil corner by your jack compartment? i have 2 amps as well and one amp is in one of those lil corners and the other is in the other lil corner. Its not like your box for the subwoofers is gunna take up any room in the corners(unless you make a fiberglass box)
but thats what i did, and it worked great. I have received a lot of compliments for my box.

hey, my amp got here early so i installed it today, sorry i wasnt thinking during installation so i didnt take any pictures while i was doing it here are some finished product pictures though. (a bit hard to see, but thats the point) What I did was buy a small 400 watt amp, I ran the wires under the carpet and wired it up with basically no slack in the wires, and the amp was able to fit under the seat without hitting that big drop in the back of the stock seat. I am very pleased with the end result, there is no way to tell that there is an amp in the car unless its night and u see the amp lights or take out the head unit.

The amp is a soundstorm f4100, it is a 400W rms, 4 chanel amp (100X4). I'm using it to power my speakers right now, not enough power for subs, when I want subs I will be running 2 amps and eating batteries like its my job. Many people have not heard of this manufacturer, but i hadn't heard anything bad about it. Best part about the amp besides the clean install was the price, i got this amp for $45 to my door. Thanks for the compliments.

Very nice setup! Let us hope that the thing does not overheat, and if it does, I hope it has a thermal protection on it.

You got a 400Watts RMS amp for $45? OMG Where? How? WTF 100x4 RMS amps normally run for $150-$200+

You should check into memphis car audio's 500d. It is engineered very well. It provides thermal protection and is very very small puts out serious power and is decent price. I have owned two and wouldn't buy anything else. This amp will fit underneath your seat!

are you using the rear seat? if not just remove the rear seat, build a fiberglass encloser and put the amps in the middle and subs on the sides leaving your whole trunk open for whatever u need to store

I managed to get 3 amps under the rear seat. Had to remove some foam but so far no troubles with overheating and we had a couple of really hot days.
