I got a Power Acoustik Gothic Series OV2-520 Amp with 520W Peak/300W RMS and a Visonik V810D2 10" Sub (1000W RMS/2000W Max) with a custom enclosure (2.5 cubic feet with four 2" diam. 8.5" long vent tubes) . I probably could of went with a larger amp, but it hits hard as it is!!! There should also be a few pics on how I routed the 4 gauge amp power wire. I sent it down the passenger side rocker. The RCA's were sent down the center console, and the amp trigger wire was sent down the driver's side rocker.

Did you just paint that plywood crap black or what? :barf: Shoulda atleast thrown a layer of bondo on there or something or covered it in some padded vinyl. I need my trunkspace I dunno bout u though

Nice attempt, but in the end you fell short IMO.

I would have used some MDF, as it has better acoustic properties than that glued plywood stuff. I probably would have thrown some vinyl, or at least carpet over top of that bad boy.

ok, so it hits hard, but what about sound quality? are you even slightly concerned with that? you have it tuned to 37.858hz was that what you were shooting for? the chip board that you used looks about .5 inches thick. plus that type of wood vibrates a LOT. (dont ask why I know this so well..... :coy: ) I would suggest makinga new one out of .75 inch MDF. you will see a WORLD of differance.

here are the sugested specs for a ported box from the manufacturer...

ENCLOSURE VOLUMES - Ported
Vented (Cu. Ft) 2.5
Vented to (Hz) 38
3dB down point (-3dB Hz) 32
Port Diameter (") 4
Port Length (") 17.5
Number of Ports 2

soit looks like you are in the ball park, but having 4 smaller ports might restrict the airflow a bit.

But hey, if y6ou are happy with it that is all tha matters, and you should just ignore grouchy guys like me. :D

Not trying to flame you, but trying to help you get the most outta your box.

:laser:

Don't take this the wrong way (to each his own). I hope you got a good deal on that 10" Visonik... Waste of $200 for a 10" IMO.

Edit: On the otherhand...

Was this your first box? If not how long have you been building boxes?

Why the choice of wood? (cost?)... 3/4 inch MDF would be far better for your setup.

Why no internal supports inside the box to stiffen the walls?

Looks like the amp is mounted directly to the box.. if it is you may want to think about putting supports where the amp mounts to the box (internal supports)... it will help reduce the amount of vibration that is going to the amp.

Any reason for 4 ports? Why wouldn't you have done 2 larger ports? (Like a previous post said) Better air flow.

Keep making boxes... keep learning.

you didnt pay $200 for that sub did you??? if so you got ripped im sorry i paid $184.94 for my solobarics (per sub) when the first came out you must not know the right people LOL.

2 10'' kicker solobarics l5's 4ohm dvc wired to 1ohm
1 ich mdf box with supports (the whole back of the box)
1 farad stinger cap trunk mounted battery 4ga wire
kicker zr600 amp Best ever, better than my memphis 1000st i had
eclipse two way front mids and highs
eclipse three way mids and highs back
panasonic head unit (wanted because or graphic eq and sub out control)

subs and box with cool grills =504.04
front mids and highs=159.00
rear mids and highs= 179.00
drownding out other peoples rattling crap systems= priceless

i do like the box though and the setup is super clean get that box to stay together and put a jl, kicker or memphis in that thing you would be money but if you like the sub keep it its you car and your stereo so its your choice LOL have fun getting rid of little rattles every where in that car mine has no plastic in the back now and no 3rd brake light a hatch that swells ever time it hits and a big chunk out of the front glass from the mirror coming off (thanks lil jon)LOL

Not to turn this into a fight, opinions are opinions.

Kicker zr600 amp... not the best

You seem to be the type of person who.. likes mainstream... and buys what the "mainstream public" say is good.

Example system that would "drown" your system out... (if you know the right people you can get it for relatively cheap)

Rainbow Comps + 15" RE XXX + eD Nine.1

But remember, this is all in "my opinion"...

Only paid $114.50 for the sub at Summit Racing and $99.00 for the amp. The "cheap" plywood and ABS piping were just laying around in the garage. I'll probably get the 3/4" MDF and build a better box (this was my first box build) later. Just trying to save a little coin!!! Thanks for the advice anyway :|

LOL i know i might be mainstream i like certain things thats it ,i like kickers dont get me wrong i have heard Visoniks that pound and sound great, believe me i have had some crappy systems in the past, i do like how clean it looks though it is super clean, i like the kicker zr LOL its old school and it can handle anything i had a memphis 1000st and didnt think it was that great, i guess it doesnt matter what you put in theses cars it sounds wicked (why do we all have lasers???) 15's against 10's hmm yeah theres a little difference oh well there will always be this is better and no this is way better , Keep the box design

Well... I can rephrase it to 10" RE XXX... they'll still "drown" in out :p... I just went for the kill.

I agree with fwd-turd... keep the box... maybe stiffen it some (especially where the amp mounts)... keep building boxes... keep posting pictures!

LOL your killing me here remmargorp... there might be a market in theys boxes i know few people that have 1g's and i bet they would like one , and it fits perfectly way better than my box i will say that mine is a normal box (really heavy though) LOL my box weighed in at 127lbs with subs so i bet yours is a little more performance designed. build that box again with supports and if you want have it fiberglassed then painted it would look great :thumb: and you only have around $215.00 in amp, sub and box for that its not bad at all i thought you paid just 200 for the sub . my fault i guess at least you can build a box you give me a piece of wood and a table saw and i still couldnt cut a straight line LOL
