That's not an insert; it's a full replacement. If I remember correctly, BigRand was really interested in these a while back, but I don't think anyone has ever used one.

Well, if anyone has used it please let me know. Otherwise, I will try it out if I have money left over. So far this engine rebuild has cost me an estimated $7k. I would laugh if it is slow. I am also in the process of getting a sponsor from Harly Davidson for my DOT and SNELL approved race helmet. Thanks guy in andvance for any advise.

If the build is done right it shouldn't be slow. You can make any car faster with the proper mods and parts.

Sponsorship for a race helmet? Huh? You need an Arai or BELL helmet, those are the only 2 brands I know of that have saved my ass plenty of times on my dirtbike. I've literally nailed the hell out of branches going like 45mph in the woods and nothing has broken. MX helmets FTW! :thumb:

IMO i would not get anything other tha a Quafie LSD......

I have seen alot of people that havebroken there spider gears buy using insert style lsd's also if you plan on pushing alot of HP the insert style lsd will not be able to apply enough force agenst the spider gears to keep them locked toghter.......EVEN with upgraded springs and pin inthe insert lsd..........

The way i see it is you get the insert 300$ have it instaled 200$ IT BREAKS YOUR SPIDER GEARS.......so you do the right thing and get the quafie 1250$ ........in the end save your self the money and heart ach and go with the Qufie .......

Yes i know it is expensive but its worth it and plus it comes with a life time warrenty..ant beat that

Alright well, the quaife is going to wait than. Thank you all for your input, the AMC is a $600 part so I won't waste any more money than I can.

Oh, and I need a DOT and SNELL approved helmet. I have alot of circuit racing experience so I should not need the helmet for much. I will let you all know what happens, I'll update my "A different turbo question" thread.

Like I said... the AMC isn't an insert, it's a replacement LSD just like the Quaife.

I wish someone would buy this thing! We've all been wondering about it for a while, but no one's been willing to test it out.

I called and talked to Alex at AMC, he says that his product is IDENTICAL to the Quaife. He stated that he used the same materials and SPECS of the quaife and the warantee is EXACTLY the same. I will be testing this little bugger out if the machine shop doesn't cost too much.

Sweet... be sure to keep us updated.

EDIT: I started doing some hardcore research on these AMC units, and there really isn't any information on them; so you'd really be the first to give a definitive answer. It seems like everyone has either screwed around with PhantomGrips, RetrofitLSDs, or they gave up and bought a Quaife. Every now and then, someone was brave enough (or foolish enough) to buy an OBX, but I haven't heard of anyone who's actually bought an AMC.

Hopefully they don't have fitment issues like the OBX units.

Yeah... Baxsom started a thread on 2GNT when he bought a OBX unit. He took some crucial measurements and posted them. If you do buy this thing, I suggest you measure it and compare your notes to Baxsom's before installing. That way you might save yourself some time, and you'll have it easier trying to get your money back if the thing doesn't fit.

You guys should all chip in for testing purposes. Lol, just kidding, I will let you all know as soon as I do.

I own one and it has been installed and working correctly for 4 months so far. The only issue i ran into was not being able to run snap rings on the axles. You should take the unit apart and taper the insides before installing it.

Hmm... interesting. And have you noticed improvements in handling while cornering, or reduced wheel hop?

I wish we had someone with both a Quaife and AMC to compare.

We need someone with power aka turbo to test it out...
