alternator belt tensioner pops out?

so i replaced my bets and now when i tighten my alternator belt its fine. but then i turn on the car and the tensioner pops out of the u shaped bracket after vibration. anyone with a clue on how to keep it from getting loose, jeremy

its either bent or your not getting it tight enough. the force of the bolt pulling the alternator should hold it in place as long as everything is straight

i am having the same problem with my 1g. so far all that i have done is used zip ties to hold it down till i have the time to really look that the bolt.

When you are tightening it, make sure you have it pushed all the way into the "u" area of the bracket. If not, it will look as if you are doing it right, but you really aren't. :\ It can very easily play games with you and pop out.
