Alternator and Big Brake-Cheap ways

As you guys can see my profile, I LIVE IN KOREA which doesn't have Mitshubishi Dealer.

So, If I have problem with my DSM (1997 eclipse GST) I have to imports parts directly from US (very very expensive) or have to deal with HYUNDAI parts which seems usable to my DSM.

From last week, I had my alternator problem, low low voltage during driving, I called Mitsu dealer in US and ask the price of the alternator. It was TOOOOOOOO expensive including Shipping. So, I decide to use cheap hyundai one. It's only alternator.

I took out DSM alternator and went to HYUNDAI part shop, I compare about 3 other alternator, finally found 2002 EF sonata's alternator has 4pin connector and 110amp and look very similar. ( I know it's very un-professinal way)

I think I was lucky, That sonata's alternator was fit...braket location was little bit off but I use grinder and made it fit.

I works fine and cost me around $125.00 total.


Next one is brake, Since I have GST and it comes with 1 piston brake system.
I'm ok with a brake but only problem is it's really hard to find brake pad for front brake.
everytime I had to change my brake pad(front) I had to order US. That made me crazy.
So, I had to find cheaper ways to maintain my brake system and I finally found the solution. Guess what...It's hyndai again. One of my friend already did it with Hyundai XG (2004+) caliper+disc(12") Again, run to hyundai part shop and bought XG caliper and I saw 2005 tiburon's disc rotor...it's cross drilled one...so, I compared both (xg's and tiburon's) disc very un-professional way. (just stick together and sizing by eye) It seems same size. What the heck I bought tiburon's disc, and XG's 2piston caliper. I was lucjy again, I had to grind hub a little, it fits great. Now I have 2piston brake and dont have to
find DSM brake pad anymore. installation pic is below. Thanx

I talk on the phone 3 person who did Equss 4 piston brake set-up.

All 3 guys bought $150 braket for Hundai cars (from link that I put other reply) and did little modification.

They weren't able to give you guys excact spec for that bracket. Cause braket is already installed and They are not my close friend (I just knew them from internet)so, I wasn't able to ask them to take it out and measure it.
People who wants to do that 4 piston set-up, have to find person who could make that braket.

Good thing that I have close friends live in Korea, time to use up some connections!
So I should buy those brackets, the Equus brake pads, rotors and calipers to do the conversion right? And $600 for just the front 2 or all 4?

1) $600 or little less for just front 2.

2) And Those bracket...you need little modification.

3) Yes, Equss Brake Caliper + Equus Disc Rotor (13") + Bracket..That all you need.

4) When ask your friend to buy those things for you, ask him to buy from "Hyundai MOBIS" which is official Hyundai parts shop. It's much cheaper from other shop in Korea.

p/s Rotor, caliper is very heavy which means Shipping cost would be kinda Expensive.

Actually, person who's been talked to you by AIM was my friend.
That guy have 1G eclipse and he had a 2002 XG rotor+2G DSM Caliper brake system.
Since that guy doesn't have paypal account, I paid for him.

I'm really looking forward to having that beautiful Gasket, so me and my friend would have bigger o2 sensor housing installed. and down pipe, too.

So, if you have any brake question, ask me or ask him (aim)

That would be me . I have 1G DSM AWD(90' eclipse GSR-4 5spd JDM). I'v alrdy installed o2 housing with dumptube and I'm really loving the sound and enjoying hauling under full boost on local driveway to scare people off.

Anyway, back to the topic. Yes, I have stock 2g GSX dual piston and stock hyundai 11" rotors(came off hyundai XG) on front. Appearantly, stock 2g dual pistons have a bit tighter clearance than stock hyundai dual pistons ( although, break pads were 100% compatable). When I was trying to put them, rotors got stuck and I had to take it all apart and took stock 11" 2g rotors and new hyundai rotors together and have em milled to same height. Now everything works fine.

For Hyundai 4 pistons and 13" rotors, I am really not sure if those will bolt right up or not. You will need something big wheel likes 18" and have to modify caliper bracket a bit for sure.

Things about hyundai 4 piston break and rotors are that it is hard to get one cheap when you are in the US(still cheap though). Plus, it is hard to find performance break pad for that specific model. Although 4 piston 13" stock breaking power is plenty enough for most of the guy here in street use, some may want more. I'd say it is up to tuners here to decide their each specific application.

ok guys you do know you can also use n/t 3000gt parts. 3000'z have 2 pistons and the rotors r 11.5 so thats what im using my boy did that swap. well for all in US

Why not just use the 3000gt nt setup? Sounds much simpler and cheaper.

well they said they did both calipers and rotors for 120.. so thats pretty cheap. and the tiburon rotors are said to be 303mm which is bigger than the 2g ones.. and they fit on stock 16's too with no need for custom brackets to mount the calipers(i know that the 2g ones will too)

So for us 1g owners, it doesnt pay to go with the 3000gt nt setup? And the rotor size from the tiburons are bigger than the 3kgt nt's right? So what caliper would be needed?
