Alternatives to Log-style Manifolds (including Ajax's Manifold)

I would so buy that manifold off of you AJAX.

Anyways, I'm half tempted to cut the grooves around the manifold ports like the HRC design(almost loks like the manifold is divided by 4 sections). Seems like it would decrease chances cracking to some extent.

Paul, keep up the work on that manifold. I'm holding out on a couple things for it(EGT, ceramic coating, A/C)! :thumb:

Well guys I must say I feel honered to be .5% and acutally mentioned in a thread usually I always envy other peoples cars and parts, never thought someone would like something I have!! It is to bad that they dont make them anymore, but then there is an opening for someone who would like to make some money on the side!

I'm with you in the .5% also. A guy named Alain made my manifold. The turbo flange is directly in the middle of the manifold, meaning all ports are equal (symmetrically) and each cylinder being worked at the same rate.

Symmetry doesn't always mean equality. Gases exiting cylinders 1 and 4 have different flow characteristics than cylinders 3 and 4 with your design.

Not to mention offseting the manifold makes room for bigger things.....I've got a full 3" downpipe right up to the turbo, and I still have AC, and stock fans, thanks to star.

Also going back to clocking the manifolds. That is one thing Star did for their kit which I do like, people always think that my turbo is a little smaller than it actually is, but when you look at it with the intake off, the copressor snail becomes much bigger. ....I guess hahn has their own ideas about that.

Hey look, I started a thread when I didn't even know it! Just so no one gets confused, this is the thread to which I originally replied.

It's called a split topic...

That's what happens when unecessary off-topic posts are made and keep on goin.

Log manifolds are in dominance in 420a land, period. New various models and attempts are coming out...

Thanks for the explanation, but I already knew why (presumably) Paul started a new thread.

This is what needs to change, for the betterment of the genre.

Beautiful Ajax. Paul I like your idea, because with a 3" downpipe you are pressed for room with A/C and power steering. Once you complete the design and have some manifolds completed and ready for sale let me know paul I have cash in hand. Assuming I get limited warranty for the first run of things LOL.

It's tough to make tubular style manifolds for our cars because it would put the turbo very close to the starter. More designs and R&D are coming together now though so we can have something that will fit good finally.

Besides the Star/Treadstone Manifold (log style), AJAX's manifold is the ONLY one I would touch... No offence on Pauls manifold, he knows what he is doing... but that ram design I think looks like ... I dunno, just weird! and I prefer to see the turbo on my car...

Ajax, you really should discuss your manifold with a few companies... see if they can reproduce a few...
