alternate water feed?

I ran into a problem installing a 16g on my 6 bolt block, with a 2g head, water pipe, and thermostat housing. The drain still hooks up to the water pipe ok, but I need to find another feed line because I dont have the feed from the block. Now I see why I should have used a 1g water pipe. Do I have any alternatives to finding a 1g pipe somewhere? What if I were to "t" off the line feeding the oil filter housing? I need to get this engine back in the car.. so any suggustions would be great.
