sooo my altenator went out and i swaped another one in and the other car was working fine till i started making 3rd gear pulls and on one of those 3rd gear pulls the voltage went up to 15v and my battery i quess overcharged and it started spitting acid everywhere. what could of cause this? altenators bad? :coy:

How old was that battery? I think that your problem is with the battery. I have never heard of an alternator overcharging a battery.

True. Batterys can internally short out and when that happens they can overheat and "shoot" acid everywhere. They can also give irratic voltage readings and cca readings.

I have never heard of an alternator overcharging a battery.

I HAVE had a problem with the alternator overcharging the battery. I went through 3 alternators and 2 batteries before i found the problem. It seems the wires in the front left quarter panel of my car were knocking around, becoming split open, shorting out, and fusing together. I had to remove the quarter panel and redo all the wiring inside, and I made sure to shield it thoroughly. At that time I had gone through the first alternator and had one battery spit acid all over the firwall(and a little on the throttle cable). There were major voltage surges at random times (at night the cars low beams would get as bright as high beams and the high beam light would stay dimly lit 24/7) before the fix. But after, I went through and fixed everything, my next alternator only lasted about a month before problems set in. The battery would still overcharge and started to spit a little acid. Well I made some calls and did some research and was recommended that I check the ecu. I sent it back to Mitsubishi and sure enough, it was fried. They sent me a new one and I havent had a problem since.:D
