Is it possible to re-install the alternator bracket with the engine in the car?

I lost the bolt for it and forgot to install it, now everything is together and I am not sure if I just need another bolt or a relocation kit.

And can anyone confirm the part number for a 2g is 14799S? If anyone has a spare alternator bracket to waterpump bolt please PM me

Thanks,
Mark

I'm sorely confused what bolt you're talking about so hopefully you can get what you need from this. :) The alternator bracket is the piece with the slot that, without the alternator installed, bolts to the water pump. That single bolt mounting the bracket and water pump is Mitsubishi part number MF140238. This is the one it sounds like you don't have which means you found some other bolt to fasten your water pump to the block.

The number you've provided is a PNC (part name code) and is basically an internal reference number for CAPS and ASA. Anyway, that bolt is basically a "position locking bolt". With the bracket installed, you have the two bolts that make a "+" configuration. Imagine standing in front of the car looking into your engine bay: the vertical line of the "+" is the bolt that applies tension to the belt. The horizontal bolt goes through a block (which is basically a two way nut for both the horizontal and vertical bolts), through the slot in the bracket, and threads into the alternator. This bolt, if that is what you are after, is Mitsubishi part number MF140233.

Hopefully that helps you out. To be thorough, the tensioning bolt is part number MD133180. Let us know if this doesn't answer your question so we can get you fixed up.

.

That's the one, thanks! I have to figure out what CAPS is and how to use it if I'm going to be losing parts :coy:

I also need the part number for a 2g front axle nut but I can't find it

You have to un bolt the mount and jack the engine up a bit to be able to get that bolt in. The frame rail is in the way if you don't jack it up a bit.
