Alright guys i finally got my AFC .. so now i need a little help

First, does anyone know of a good site (with pictures) of the afc install that shows the solders and the wires ect. I heard it was pretty simple, and since ive installed everything else on the car i dont think i would have a problem .. but i just want to make sure i do it right the first time.

Second, As far as air/fuel mods go i have a K&N cone w hacked air box, i have a modified 1g mas (i backed the fuel cut screw out flush). I also have a Walbro 255 .. and 510cc injectors.

My other mods are in my profile .. (exhaust, clutch, egt/af/boost gauge, ect). I wasnt able to get ahold of an SAFCII with my budget but i was able to pick up the first gen AFC with the arrow buttons rather than the dial. I have a Palm Logger running MMcd. I have a pretty good knowledge of engine theory and tuning. O2 voltages, injector pulses and all that stuff as well as OBD systems ect .. but i dont want to start pushing buttons on the afc if its not really self explanitory.

So if anyone has the time and can set me up with some common basic mediums that i can fine tune from id appreciate it! I read RRE article .. but id like some first hand help!!

Thanks for reading guys!!
i have a 1990 gst

1. Either get an AFPR or ditch the 255 for a 190 fuel pump. Dont tune with a 255 and no AFPR

2. prostreetonline.com has an excellent safc install page with pics

3. the tech section of this forum has a good guide for tuning with a logger and is a little easier/more accurate than the roadrace way, they dont use a logger. They use an EGT guage which tells you are retarting timing when it gets too hot, but not how much timing.

4. When you put in the injectors, and set the LO's (say they are at for example -10 all the way across), carry those numbers to the HI's and tune from there. Always start rich and work leaner slowly. All cars run different. Some people will have for ex: lo's at -10 and hi's at -22, while others will have lo's at -10 and hi's at -11 with the same setup. Never go by someone elses numbers.

Thanks for the help!

And i know about the FPR its on my list .. im just a little low on mula at the moment. Its actually the next thing im looking at getting.

Anyone else have any suggestions?

take a 3rd gear pull and post your log. lots of people (like myself) like to look at other peoples loggs and read what people are saying to help myself tune.

All you need to log is RPM, timing, O2 voltage and knock. Sometimes airflow is a good one to throw on there if you want. Also make sure your TPS is reading around 100% before you start tuning.

depending on what kind of logger you have pay attention to the TPS reading. Some go in % and some go in degrees for some retarded reason.

Dont be nervous when you're looking for one on % and instead of 100% its reading 90degrees. its the same thing since 90 degrees is vertically perpendicular to the TB the plate is completly open!

Just a helpful hint

im not positive on which one does. but i know most 'scan tools' that are used for OBDII and OBDI have a tendency to read degrees rather than percentages.
