I just picked up a 1G AWD last night for a steal but it has some problems.

It surges and won't idle very well.

When accelerating, the turbo starts to spool up and then just sputters off.

When slowing down or down shifting, it will stall out between the shifts and will stall at all stops once its warm.

The only thing I notice is that the BOV isn't recirculated at all, and I can't see a way to recirculate it to the intake.

Alright here's the pic finally, I was gonna wait till the snow was gone to get this thing running again but I'm selling my BMW and need something to drive. Anyone know what the problem is? Let me know if you need more pics or info.

Flip that bov around so it faces the other way around and find something to connect it to the intake tube.

first off throw that bov in the trash and put a crushed stock one on and like everyone else said recirculate it. I bet that is leaking and that is most of your problem. You can try adjusting it to be stiffer but given its ebay i can safely assume that it will still leak.

Ok so I bought a Turbosmart Plumb Back and I was curious if there is an adapter to just bolt it on or do I need to weld it on?

Idle surge and stalling is caused a lot of the time by vacuum/boost leaks. Not being recirculated as stated is going to cause a lot of airflow problems, and can mess with the fuel trims. the ecu thinks your getting that recirculated air back into the system so when you intake more air into the system the ecu sees even more airflow going through than what is actually there and is sending in more fuel. You would be running really rich. you need to get that back to recirculated until you have a way to tune for it. I know i added to what others stated but I figured it would help with an explanation why it needs to be recirculated as to just saying you need to do it
