ok i so ive searched and i could not find my answer. whats the smallest size engine oil cooler i can use on my 1g?? i know setrab is a good brand, but what about Derale? im looking at buy a Derale engine oil cooler and its dimensions are : 6"x10" and is 1 1/4 thick, is this size ok?

ok but what should the smallest size be? any of you using a Derale oil cooler?

well for one im a dsmer on a budet, and why get an oil cooler bigger than what i need. i guess im going to try the derale oil cooler, when i get it on ill post pics and let you know how it turned out. one more question though. the 90 oil filter housing comes with-8an adapters, what size hose would i need?? and what size should the ports be on the oil cooler? im new to all the -aN stuff so i dont really know the sizes. can someone help me out?

Personally I think you should go with an oil cooler an inch or two smaller and 2 inches thicker.

The 90 oil filter housing doesnt come with -8an adapters, it doesnt come with adapters at all. It come with two female openings for you to screw adapters into.

As for the adapters, you will need two M16-1.5 to -6 AN or -8AN adaptors, depending on what size lines your going to use. It also depends on what size male ends are on the oil cooler you plan on purchasing.

You can get the adapters at www.anplumbing.com

the M16-1.5 to -6 AN adapter is part number 9919DFJ

the M16-1.5 to -8 AN adapter is part number 9919EFJ

i was referring to the oil filter housing at mach V. i think they sell it with the -8an adapters installed already. my bad

Our oil filter housings have an oil thermostat in them that opens and lets the oil go through the cooler at the appropriate time.

Personnally since my car will be mostly running full out at either Road Course of Track, Im going with a Setrab Oil Cooler P/N 125-12 7 1/2" high x 8 1/4" wide. It has 25 rows in it. Also using 12an Lines for maximum Flow and Capacity.

You might want to call summit and check with them that they sent you the size fitting I mentioned above, I can almost garantee they arent going to send you the correct fittings.

Also, If I remember correctly, Mach V sells the fittings seperately than the housing and for a ridiculous price. If you buy the housing from JNZtuning and the adapters from anplumbing you will def. pay less.

I was thinking about going that size but I went a bit smaller, the next size down, I went with 5 1/2 X 8 1/4 X 2 with -8AN

Not a problem, glad I could help. There is a lot of info on external coolers its just that everyone has different setups and its hard to firgure out what to do for your own. I just ordered my cooler and did all the research, so its fresh in my mind.
