Here is my log of my car. Mods are a AGP 50 trim, boost is set at 25psi. 680cc injectors, FMIC,2G maf, S-afc, walboro 255pump with AFPR..etc I cannot get my car tunned in well at all. It seems that it is breaking up around 5500 and my HIGH fuel trim is so rich but the logger says that i am not that rich and if i lean it out a little it will knock even worse than it is now. ANY IDEAS ARE WELCOME.
Here is the log

what gas are you using .. if im reading that right your knock hit 42 and your timing is at 42 and drops to 9 then back up ? Lower the boost and tune your way up ..

i am using 93 sunoco. I already know what the knock hit, which is the reason that i posted the log.
Thanks

Turn the boost down and tune from there, it will make it easier, and then you can gradually richen it up as you raise the boost.

Crawl before you walk, grasshopper :p

i wish it was just as simple as that, boost does not go below 22psi cause to hold the 38mm flapper closed u need a super stiff wastegate spring, which is where i have been the last 2 days. It is gradually becomeing better and better its just that i have to tune it DAILY for it to not knock.

TalonspoolAWD,

I don't know your tuning experience, so please forgive me if am out of place here, but why would you tune for 25 psi. Granted, you may have moved to 25 psi from lower boost but i don't see that indicated in the post thus far.

My experience is to start at a marginal boost level such as 15 or 18 psi where you can dial in the car with greater ease. The higher the boost, the more any tuning blurbs will show and effect the car, so the thought is to dial in car at the select marginal boost and make small increments to the psi - compensating your timing and fuel in spurts.

I would suggest logging/tuning at 15 or 18 psi and going from there. Once that is proficient, then turn up the boost. Good luck.

Hmmm...

I have the 35mm TiAL and have had no problems lowering the boost with my electronic boost controller to the psi levels I've mentioned above. Is it possible this is a boost controller issue - again, not trying to make digs but determine factors that limit the boost you can run?

If not, is this the spring originally shipped with the 38mm? If so, I'm surprised I've never heard of this type of problem before with the 38mm Tials? Almost sounds like you would benefit from the new Turbonetics Evolution Gates with adjustable shims to set desired boost running off the gate.

Anyhow, let us know about the boost control, and the state of the 38mm spring, as this sounds like more of a problem than anything else right now.

Good luck.

** Note ** with the stock 35mm spring in my gate, I've been able to adjust from anywhere from 13psi to 24psi, that's my personal experience which lead to the insight provided above.

He meant he has a 38mm internal WG. I know what you mean by a lot of preload needed, my GT30r wouldn't hit 20psi until 4900 RPMs until I put a lot of preload on the IWG, now I get 18psi by 3800 with a really rich tune.

TalonspoolAWD: Are you sure you can't adjust the WG for a little bit less preload to get it to ~18psi? It would be a lot easier to tune for 18psi then it would for 22+psi.

Like they said above, lower the tension on the WG arm. You should be able to boost from about 16-25psi with the internal gate setup.

your a little leaner then Id want, With you pulling timing like that Im sure its not pulling very hard at all for those boost levels, and base or lower timing at 6k rpms :( .
Andrew

Get a wideband on the car, for one thing.

You're probably going to want to do something about that boost issue; 25 psi is a lot of boost on pump gas regardless of the situation, and with an untuned car it's simply absurd. There's a reason people don't use internal wastegates with big setups.

You're probably too lean and/or have too much timing advance. Start there. You also certainly have too much boost to start with.
