Toronto,
Okay, so I know that the subject of the AFX ECU being only for the 97's comes up here and there, but looking at the howell website just makes me furious that they don't have it for my car.
So who can I (or a bunch of us guys/girls who like to rant and rave) talk to about trying to develop one. I don't know if crysler would even look into that anymore, but it would be nice.
Or even an aftermarket company who can figure out how to change the AFX Ecu so that it will work for late96,98,99 (I don't know about 95's, OBD 1).
As a matter of fact, what is the reason they only work for 97's?

Not sure why they developed them only for 97.I read 2gnt that they would only develop them for the other years 98,99 etc., if they sold a certain amount of 97 ecus probably didnt hit their quota. I would love drop one of those on my ride it will certainly increase our potential. But heres the pinouts for a few maybe someone can figure something out in order for us to a 97 ecu conversion, swap out the wiring harnesses not sure what can be done.Hopefully someone can clear things up cause i would like to know.
98 ecu pinouts

97 ecu pinouts

95 ecu pinouts

Search around on 2gNT, theres a small handfull of people there who CLAIM to have installed the 97 ECU in a non-97 with no problems. Im not sure HOW they did this, or if there talking out their asses, but its proably worth looking into.

i thought you were going turbo, why do you want this? this ecu and a turbo dont mix well since it advances timing quite a bit. and for $500 you could have a megasquirt up and running.

Oh yeah I forgot Turbo +advanced timing = :nono:
I think it was wishful thinking on myh part, see I'm getting my timing belt replaced this monday, and I hope to have the turbo on and tuned by sunday of next week. But like I think I wanted to complain about being slow for one last time.

So what kind of time frame are u looking at for the install, (I know school is still going on for you right?)
I was thinking about doing the install myself after helping my buddy put on his greddy turbo kit and intercooler on his GSX, but school takes up too much of my time, and my mom says she'd rather have a professional do it for me and not spend all my time on it. Plus they're going to tune it on their dyno asoon as its completed.

I'm hoping to get everything in by next week sunday. (after mid0-terms), I would be going for this weekend, but I wanted to replace my timing belt, and that's happening monday. (skipping school for that), but I'm hoping my shop will have finished portmatching my 60mm TB and intake manifold by the end of this week. The shop is always busy, and my buddy with a GSR civic hatch is having some engine work done at the same time,so I'll be competing with him for time. We're hoping to get done at the same time, and have a lil fun breaking in our new toyz.

MAN I'M LIKE AN F**KIN' RE RUN HERE, I JUST NOTICED THAT. OH WELL :thumb:

yea school is still going on for me, which is a good thing actually cuz i need to use there welder. i actually have a harder time tho because i work from right after school till around 8 every night. so i work on my car from like 9pm- 1am, and if i dont have a part, im out of luck cuz all the stores are closed. but install shouldnt be too bad, the welding is what will take the most time. once everything is welded up, install should only be an hour or 2. ive been installing things as i go. ive got the walbro 255 and vortech fmu in already, along with my boost and oil psi gauges, oil feed line and return port, and smic. basically once everything is welded together, i just have to bolt the mani on, the turbo on, connect the oil feed and return line, and hook up the down pipe, ic piping and BOV and im done. i cant wait... im just mad cuz my auto teacher is gone today and tomarrow so no shop = no welding = nothing accomplished :( i think you should save your money and install it yourself. its really not that difficult. id say the most difficul part was taking off my oil pan and drilling and welding a bung in it(which is still leaking  ) otherwise you can do things in steps and still be able to drive the car, you dont have to do it all at once. :thumb:
