Aftermarket head unit with stock disc changer...

...How the hell do I make it work/what do I need?

I am a complete audio idiot, normally I don't care enough to do anything about it....just turn it up till the speakers almost blow then back it down a little, or pull it out all together because its heavy.

But for this car I would like to retain the changer, replace the head unit and add some speakers (which I already have). Yes, I'm a product of the 90's and still buy cd's and no, MP3's are out of the question...either I make it work or it stays stock and I just put my speakers in and call it a day.

You might have to go with an aftermarket CD changer. Pioneer makes a 6 and a 12 changer. I believe the way to tell compatibility between the changers and head units is that the head unit will have a P in the model name, as in the DEH-P5200. They make an FM modulated one too so if you get an aftermarket unit, you can play it over an FM channel.
