I'm installing aftermarket fogs on my Laser. There are two wires coming from the backside of my new fog lights. A white wire and a black wire, on the fog light plug what side does the black wire go into? And I blew a fuse so I know that I wired the fogs wrong... Do I need a new foglight relay of is there a individual fog light fuse?

Thanks guys,

I would use a volt meter to check your wires on your fog light connections for voltage, the new lights should have instructions on which is power and which is ground. I believe in my tsi the fog lights have there own fuse.

The aftermarket wires have 2 colors correct? Black and White. White is power and Black is the ground, normally. But in Asia they do things differently than America. Black is Power and White can be ground. Since you have aftermarket fogs they are not made in America. Did they come with any wiring diagrams. What is the name of the fog lights you bought, maybe can look up the proper schematic.

Post above has a good point you will need a meter or test light to see which terminal to hook that power wire too. In your fuse panel look for fuse #6 it is 15 Amp. It powers the fog light circuit. Both ground wires for the fog lights have to be grounded in order for the fog light circuit to work correctly.

Did you already have factory fogs or is this a new install? That will depend on how it will be wired and the correct steps to tell you to follow in order to properly install the wiring. Schematics are worth more than a pictures but what ever information you have would be nice if you can share some more?

when i put mine in i just tucked the lead from black wire under the foglight bracket as i was bolting it down, and i grounded the switch inside the car, routed the long white power wire next to my boost gauge vacuum line through the firewall and to the switch under my radio

Ok heres what I did, I literally just did this a day ago. If you want to use the stock switch, which is what I did first

1. Check to see if youre actually getting voltage from the connectors(should be close to 12volts)
2.Next determine which wire is your power wire. If im not mistaken, black goes to black(since black is ground on both the car, as well as the fog lights,(if their pilots or something) Just double check the manual to see what is the hot wire.
3. black to black
4.white to power.

if you do it this way the fogs will only turn on with the pop ups on, but on the other hand, who turns on their fogs alone?

Chances are if you got similar fog lights to me, the wire is kind of thick, so it could be possible that its not even connected.

Thanks for all the help guys!

I took my stock fog light bulbs and broke the light tube off, so that two prongs were sticking up. Then I connected the white and black wires to the bulb's prongs. Plugged the bulbs back into the stock plugs and everything worked correctly. Fogs still work with the switch, or lack there of since mine is broke. I've got a replacement in route. I even did the fog light with parking lights mod. It's going to look awesome once I get the switch so they'll stay on.
