Aftermarket fans...

I'm looking to upgrade my fans prior to a FMIC install. There's lots out there starting at $69 and going up to $200 a piece. What do you guys recommend for fitment and function? Where's the best price? I don't need the slimest of the slimest, but a little smaller than stock would be nice for clearance but is not needed.

Just get the $400 twin 12" shrouded FAL fans.

I learned the hard way by trying to go cheap with fans. There are certain things you can afford to go cheap on and get away with it, I don't think fans are one of them. The FAL fans are a high quality piece and you will never have to worry about it again. If you can't afford or don't want to pay the $400, at least get 12" SHROUDED fans. It does make a difference as far as drawing heat away from the radiator.

DO NOT get cheap slim fans. AKA the ones on ebay. They are shit. You don't need to spend $400 though, a nice Mr. Gasket, FAL, or SPAL fan should do.

I went with the cheepo's from slowboy ---
they seem to work ok - but allready (A few months old) make odd noise like the bearings are shot.

I've learned my lesson in the past about cheaping out on parts. Wasting money on crap isn't my game

Just for an example, RRE sells SPAL 12" pull fans that are rated at 1230cfm for $95 a piece. What's the difference between these and a $200 fan? And, more importantly, is that difference worth the extra $100 each?

Where'd you end up getting your fans Tony?

The stock fans, if you can keep them, work the best. I found out the hard way.
