So here it goes, I have the usual lifter tick that our cars are known for, but last week my car developed another annoying tick that wouldn't seem to go away.

From the sound of it, it seems that it's coming from the left side of the valve cover, but after changing the oil to a lower viscosity 5/30, it would still continue to tick .
 
You can get the revised lifters for your head that will clear up your lifter tick, there around $150 for a complet set at SlowBoy. I'm assuming your still running your stock exhast manifold which could deffinitly be your new sound.
 
Honestly, for the time being if you just want the tick to quite down and possibly leave for a little while (temp fix) try using a half can of Seafoam as an engine flush. This is the only cleaner I have ever seen that has worked on lifter tick. Then once the oil flush is done throw the rest in the tank to clean up the fuel system.

That stuff is great!
 
+2 on the seafoam. Everyone ive heard who tried seafoam on their dsm it did wonders. Quieted lifter tick and def. cleaned out most of that carbon. Lucas works in some cases but not all the time.
 
so ## saying use the seafoam as motor flush, like throw it in run the car for 5 minutes and then drain it and change the oil??????? And by the way i also just started having that loud knock on the left of my valve cover, and i just changed my manifold, go figure. U learn something knew every day.:)

I won't put anything in an engine before I read the label. I poured a whole can in and drove till next oil change. Noticed an instant difference. I think it's more an additive than a flush.

I want to try it in the intake, I've heard good things.
 
SOLVED: I brought it to my local dsm specialist to get my exhaust leak taken cared of and what he also found was 4 cracks on the manifold, 2 of which cracked all the way through.

My mechanic replaced it with another 2g manifold and also hooked me up with a 4 ply copper gasket.

Special thanks to 95'RS-T for addressing my situation :thumb:. I wouldn't of guessed it was that.
