Hey Im looking for someone running a Truboost. I installed the gauge and did the wiring (correctly) and hooked the manifold pressure source with a "t" off the bov line since there were no more ports on my JMF manifold. When I start the car the gauge reads -3.x and continues to rise to -5.x, etc. Which I dont get, also when the throttle is opened up the gauge does not move, it stays at -5.x or whatever the number is on it. I do not have the ability to take it down the road because of the snow. Also, when I hold the 2 buttons in it gives me the Pr9 and when I hit the two buttons again, it does nothing it just routes back to the rUn mode. From this I can not get into the functions to set the crack, and other functions. Am I doing something wrong? Thanks

You did something wrong. Go back and double check everything from the instruction manual. At idle you should see vacuum and it should be at least 10 in.
Is there a vacuum nipple on the turbocharger or intercooler piping? The truboost should be connected between that and the wastegate. Try keeping the bov on a separate line.

That happens when you connect to an incorrect boost/vacuum source.

I had this problem when I connected to one of the TB ports. Went away after I connected to my stock fpr.

I dont have the fpr solenoid, I had a non turbo car and did a swap with a afpr. For the BOV, I am aware it is "frowned" upon to tap but it is a source I had my autometer T'd from it and it worked perfect. Should I "T" into the line for the afpr, not sure if that will give me correct manifold press./vac. ?I have my boost source coming from the J pipe and the wastegate for the solenoid, which I used for my MBC I had before this. I got into the settings I described in the 1st post now, so I'm only having problems with the vac/press.

I had the same problems..

Best advice I can give you is try a different vacuum source.

Yes, I will have to give that a try, anyone know if tapping into the AFPR vacuum line will work if its hooked right up to the intake manifold?

Btw, yes it is business rt6 right outside of dickson city;). How do you know the area?

My girlfriend came by in the Z3 when you were hanging out behind Burger King in Carbondale. Small world ;)

BTW, I just realized you have a EVO3 swap.. Whered the EVO3 throttle body go?

Anyways, using any of the nipples on the driver side of the intake manifold will work. So if the AFPR vacuum line is connected to one of those nipples, adding a t to it should work fine.

Double edit, I see you replaced the EVO3 IM with a JMfab SMIM. I still believe the AFPR line will work though.

no kidding! I remember her stopping in with her grandfather and talking about you. Nice to talk to you bud, you planning on being in this area anytime soon??

My Evo3 TB was smashed during shipping so I put a 1g on which is the same size. The AFPR is hooked into the intake so it SHOULD work, but so is my BOV which is why I dont understand how its not reading correctly. But I will try it, its worth a shot

Well today I switched the lines around and hooked the tru boost directly to the intake manifold...no T's at all and Im still getting a low reading (-2.0) I checked for leaks there are none and another thing is when I rev the engine in idle the vacuum does not move at all, even though the turbo spools slightly and the BOV goes off the reading does not change. Im thinking its either the line or a faulty gauge :(. That would be my luck! What do you guys think?

Well, I tested it this way: I turned the car on, got a low vacuum reading, took the line off the back of the gauge and it didnt even return to 0. I called AEM, they said its probably a faulty gauge so I'm waiting for a new one to get sent to me. Im very surprised that one of their gauges came faulty.

Sounds good

When I had my problem the vacuum readings were all wacky but any positive pressures seemed to display fine.

AEM returned a new gauge to me within a week. great service they have over there, they were real great people. This gauge does work...for a second I was doubting my work ;) haha
