hey im a newbi with a 97 gst and i have been trying to hook up the aem tru boost gauge/controller and am having trouble with the soleniod. i got everything hooked up and then everytime i take the car for a drive it stalls out when i take my foot off the gas and the rpms drop to zero. And does any one know what to do with the factory soleniod that the turbo and wastegate hook up too?

you replace the factory solenoid with the one provided by AEM. Also, with the stalling out, that could be due to you running too rich. is your bov vented or recirc'd? boost leaks?

well i didnt know what to do with the factory solenoid because the instuctions were just pictures and didnt say anything about it so i left it alone and just diconnect the hoses so i could intall new hoses for the aem soleniod. i have one hose going from the turbo pressure nipple to the aem soleniod and another hose goin from the wastegate nipple to the aem solenoid.

the factory hoses are only connected to the factory soleniod n the other end of the hose to nothing. iv been taping the factory hose off to the side because havent been able to get the aem soleniod to work so i hook the factory soleniod and hoses back up when i need to drive it...it runs fine when the factory hook up is on. maybe the aem soleniod is bad???

i have the gauges boost hose hooked up to one of the manifolds nipples on the right side of the manifold using a "T". i dont know the right name for the nipple. and as for psi i have to lay of the pedal because the gauge will read 14 to 15 psi if i floor it and i know thats just about the limit for the stock turbo. and the gauge wont read any psi in 1st and 2nd gear. so possible boost leak and bad soleniod??

When you said it runs well configured the factory way, that points to the AEM setup for sure.
I read the factory T25 wastegate opens at 10psi.
So if you are hitting 15psi it is doing something.

On the factory hose routing of the BCS, one of the hoses runs to the turbo inlet pipe (did you plug it)?
If not un-metered air is entering the engine (not counted by the maf).

Also I "t"d off of the BOV line on my 1997, not sure if the others are good lines or not.

To op are you sure you have the compressor housing running to port one on the solenoid the filter piece in port two and waste gate on 3(if you still have internal wastegate set up)?
im thinking bout getting one of these when you use the wastegate spring setting do you have to use duty cycle settings or no kinda confused on that one

You can use both. You set the spring pressure to that of you wastegate and you raise the duty cycle to what boost you want to run. Duty cycle is not = to psi. When I first got the gauge that's what I thought. So I had duty cycle set to 18% and was wondering why I couldn't make 18 psi of boost:rolleyes: You can raise spring pressure to bring boost in quicker but if you spike boost lower it until you don't. It took about 30 min to set up and completely grasp the concept but once I got it right I knew there is no other boost controller for me.
