I recently bought an AEM fuel rail off craigslist for my 98 eclipse GSX (only because my old rail was damaged), I got it home and tried to put my stock injectors into it and my injectors were way to small in circumference. So now I am wondering if this rail is for a 420a eclipse since everything else bolts up fine. Are the 420a stock injectors thicker than the the 4g63 injectors?

Hey, a fellow Duluthian! I checked for some thicker seals and I don't think they make any, good idea though!

I don't think a picture would show any more than I just explained, like I said it bolts right on and has the exact same fittings. I'm just wondering if the non turbo injectors are thicker.

Dont bother with bigger seals. Likely your issue is the injectors are not OEM. I say this mainly because I have seen injectors with two different diameter tops. Mainly between imports and domestics. My supra injectors would not fit in my dakota's fuel rail, they were WAY to small on the top. I have a set of stock injectors I litterally just pulled off my 1g tho. So if your interested in a set of stock injectors for a 1g turbo, I would sell em to ya cheap. I would suggest checking your rail and make sure its drilled for the right injectors tho. I would guess either your injectors are not right at the top, or the rail is drilled wrong.

As I said tho, I do have a set of stock turbo injectors that came out of my car about an hour ago when I upgraded to 680's. They work perfectly, but you will need to replace all the seals on em. PM me if your interested.

i believe that the 420a injectors tops are similar to the domestic style injectors tops and are a bit thicker. 14mm in size i think ?

major difference i see in yours is the isolators. There is a 1/8 difference in size on them if im not mistaken too. I would have to find one of my old injectors from my old dakota to show what I mean. I have a set of 6 injectors from my supra still laying around, just dont know where the oem set from my dakota went.

I agree there looks like just a small difference between the two.. Is it possible the rail is damaged I ternally on one, and keeping the other 4 from fitting snugly

I know my injectors are OEM, they fit my stock fuel rail and are very "snug". This AEM fuel must be drilled wrong, unless that 420a injector is thicker than it looks in the picture. The rail is in great shape and is not damaged in any way. How much of a difference in size (top o-ring) would you say there is between the two injectors?

I'm not sure I would think the o ring of all things would be the same tho, I have no idea you may be right in the rail being drilled incorrectly

IF it bolts to the 4g63 engine than it isn't for a 420a. They mount completely different. Sounds like it just has the wrong size hole in it.

AEM makes rails for many different cars/trucks/SUV's. For all u know thats a rail off a V8 that has been modified to fit a 4g63. Personally I have never worked with an AEM rail on the DSM's, so I could not tell you the difference. I started making my own rails after some issues with the aftermarket ones from a dakota RT project I had. I have some extrude left over now, so I will likely just make a new rail for my 4g as well. That way I have every provision I want, and nothing I dont.

If I remember right, my supra rail had a tapered slot for the injectors to go into, and an almost ring groove inside the slot for the upper seal to set in. Are you perhaps not pushing your injectors in far enough? If that is not the case, I would bet you have a bad rail. It happens when u buy from craigslist/ebay or any other online place for that matter. Sometimes the wrong parts just get shipped, and sometimes there are manufacturer defects. Good luck however.
