I'm leaning towards the ecuflash rather than the dsmlink v2 the car already has in it (came with the car already installed but do not have a cable), but I have no actual experience using software to properly set up an ecu. I graduated from Wyotech for asian bikes and learned how to use the powercommander thats it, also my brother Graduated from Wyotech for Automotive Technology. I've been researching nonstop and all but I do not feel confident to just do it on my own and I have the common sense not to jump in blind. Im confident in my installation skills and what not, and we have both been in the automotive scene for many years and have a very good understanding of whats involved and what we need to do, I just do not want to risk making a simple overlooked mistake while setting it up and destroying my car.

What exactly do I need to run the 98-99 ecu with Tactrix Ecuflash? I know I need a 98-99 ecu, and the cable, but do I need the green top cas? Ive already downloaded the latest ECUflash software. Do I have my list correct?

And also is there anyone that is close (as in within 1-2 hours) that would be willing me to help me with this project? I just got laid off but I will compensate as best I can or maybe we could work something out. Thanks for your help.

You don't need a different CAS, you won't even need to rewire yours.
You just need the ECU, cable, software, and laptop.
You should just use DSMLink since you already have it.
You can view tutorial videos on EvolutionM - they're for the Evo but they'll show you around ECUFlash quite well.

When I bought the car I didn't know it had a dsmlink already, I don't have the cable.

My anti-lag and 2 step are stuck on while I'm driving, that's why I want to upgrade it and its running rich. Unless someone has a cable and software and could come by and fix it for me. I'm willing to pay someone. I just got laid off so I don't have a a lot of cash but can pay within reason. I just got it a new trans put in and want to enjoy my car so bad.

My dsmlink is a v2, but until I get the cash for the new ecu if someone could come by and disable the anti-lag and 2 step for now that would be awesome. Its a stock trans so I wont be using it anyways I don't want to blow up the trans I just put in.

Evolutionm also has a great write up on how to install a EVO VIII ECU, wait, so does this site for a 2g.

So what you really want is someone to come do a quick tune for you?

I'd start checking your regional forum.
