Hello friends ! I need you advice please;

I'm willing to buy a 14B for my 2G and I will keep it and try to max it out.
In the future I plan on changing it for a HX35, 16G, FPGreen, etc... but for now I want a 14B because of the "lower" price and a little more HP until I decide my definitive setup.

So I'm researching and I'm in doubt about buying a good shaped one or buying a rebuilt one.

Some people say It's never good to buy a rebuilt, because it tends to break again in a short period of time. Is it true ?

So, if I manage to find a good shaped used 14B, should I buy it instead of the rebuilt one ?

EDITED: More info

Oh friends, thank you very much for the help.

I don't know if it's ethical to ask about other sellers, but:

I found a seller, it's pj91gsx.
He rebuilds turbos and also converts them. He has a 45+ classifieds rating and asked U$ 130 for a rebuilt one.

He seid he has a couple 14bs. the one he just took apart, everything looks good. He just needed rubber seals, so he will replace those, everything else looked perfect. The turbine housing is hardly crack if its even cracked, usually cant see them but they are usually there. everything else looked perfect.

What do you guys think ? It's a fair price.
Thanks !!!!!!!!!!! :thumb:

You can find some really good 14bs with no problems used, but then again you wont know if they are good until you put them on. So the safe bet would be to buy a rebuilt one that you know for sure was rebuilt, but even better buy a blown one for cheap and rebuild it so you know for sure its good.

Hey bud:

This is an advice column, so take anything you get accordingly. DO not pay more than $200 for a 14B.. Keep in mind a brand new 16G can be had for $500 (real one, no Chinese crap). Your talking 14B so you will need an install kit either way. So factor it that way. As for rebuilding it yourself, I would not recommend. It will be a hack job either way. Rebuilding a turbo requires VSR balancing and that alone is a $250 adventure.

If you want to stay stock appearing, go T28 (do a craigslist search, there is a guy selling an almost new T28 for $500). otherwise, drop the $500 on a true MHI 16G, and an extra $100-$150 for the install kit. You will not be unsatisfied.. I've been in the game for a long time, and the amount of peeps burnt on paying $200-$300 for turbos that don't work would make your head spin. Used turbos are a real gamble. Its one of the first things to fail due to contaminated oil. Don't put yourself in the position of buying someone else s problem.

So, all that being said.. If you trust the person your buying the 14B off of and are paying less than $200 for it.. Sure do it up. Otherwise, pay the extra $300 and get a brand new Mitsubishi 16G and be done with the question marks.

Hope this helps!

Aaron

to bad your not running an external wastegate. i have a 14b that had a cracked turbine housing. but i had to pull the flapper to fix it.

I've heard a lot about jusmx141. He will charge me U$ 230 plus shipping for a rebuilt one. It's out of mu budget for now...
