Question about guys with cams. I can adjust my idle with a safc to where the 272 are almost stock in the palm low trims around around 100 no problem.. But every now and then if I really want the car to cam hard and sounds hardass I can take some fuel away and so lowbs real nice. However the palm goes to 139%

Question is, is this hard on anything? Rings, or whatever at idle?

Thanks!!

I would get it to run the smoothest posible at Idle. Who cares how mean it sounds. IS IT FAST????? Makeing the engine run the way I think you want puts more stress on it trying harder to run. Low oil pressure could be a possibility. Also making the engine run like that dumps fuel in the cylinders and washes down the cylinder wallls becuse of all the unburned fuel. Get it to run as smooth as possible. This will let you know the engine is running efficently . 272 cams sound mean as is keep it simple.

Slow down a second. You guys are jumping me like I just asked if 20s would fit on a 1g. What does a idle have to do with being fast. I think sound matters. Would you rather see a 11 second 1.6 liter honda that makes ur ears bleed, or a 12 second turbo ws6. Im just asking because I like something different. With this being my 4th DSM in 6 years, Stock like idle is not what im looking for. Is the car fast, depends who you ask to answer that. The car can post 11 second quarters on pump any day of the week, more then enough speed for me. I just want to know if pulling 10% fuel to make the car really talk hurts anything. Im not sure where the more fuel comes from when your taking more away to hurt the walls. Can you explain? 98% of the time the car is set in smooth idle trim. I just like pulling into car shows and cam my way to a parking spot next to my dsm buds.

Any others with thoughts?

Thanks - Happy Boostin!

in general, your idle settings aren't going to do any damage. If you dont have enough fuel, the car is just going to stall. If thats what you really want its not going to harm anything, I personally would go for the smooth idle tho.

since when to 272's idle smooth anyways?? LAFF.. every set of 272's ive heard ALWAYS had a lope if the idle was under 1000 rpms like its suppose to be. i think the ONLY way you couldnt hear a lope from 272's is if the idle is up higher then 1000 rpms.. just my 2 pennis.. i like the lope as well, and then just tell people its a miss in your timing haha.. but im ALSO alllllllllllll about being sneaky and having a stock SOUNDING car and then lay into and just stomp dick in the dirt.. and still have a good stock idle. :thumb:
