is it true that act gets their clutches from another company and they basically slaps their name/ sticker on it?? I heard this from a friend, which he can basically hook it up for about $250 for the whole kit. So if thats true I was going to go ahead and get the 2600. he told me the name of the company but i forgot, i'll post it up later.

Act is stamped on the plate. But I wouldn't not believe it. Do you have any idea how much work goes into making the compound on the friction plate, then the steel that makes it. Stamping the steel, heat treating and everything else associated with it?

Hate to break it to you but most things aren't make buy one company.

About 100 different compainies made your car. It isn't a all in house affair, it would be as uncost effective as it gets. Subcontracting not only brings in the prices of not owning equipment but they also get to bid the job out. Which yields a very low price.

an act clutch is a great clutch...but thats if you only put like a 2100 in it. the 2100 is an overall great clutch. but it only holds bout 322lbs of torque..so you cant go much higher than 300 hp. you need to find a nice lightweight clutch that has a high clamping load. the thing is with act 2600 they put to much stress on the crank and it causes your thrust bearing to wear out easy and you might wear the clutch out fast too. when you wear out the thrust bearing you start having problems with crank walk. not many people know this bout act clutches. but like i said if you are looking for a nice clutch for a decently fast car..go with an act 2100, i have it in my car. but if you are looking for a more heavy duty clutch. go with a light weight one with good clamp load. :dsm: :thumb:

Crankwalk is blown out of proportion, and I'd love to hear why you think your clutch will wear out faster.
