I have a friend that has a almost new act 32 unit for sale and cheap.. It was used for 2 12sec passes and thats it. I also think its a street disc?? Well I dont have no where near 500 hp and I dont plan on it. Iv got maybe 260-290 hp at the max.. Will this clutch be okay for a daily driver?? I would like to go with a act 21 or even 2600 but the price is unbeatable so I would like to take advantage of it while its ther.. Thanks guys

You wont like it as a daily driver. I hate being in traffic with my act 2600 (or whatever they are calling them now). I think that one is rated around 700 whp so I would say its a little over kill.

Yes, they are rated for 700 ft/lbs of torque. You don't need it and you friend doesn't even need either only making 12 secs pass and only making less than half of the torque it can handle. Call him crazy, but he when way overboard. A stock transmission couldn't even handle 700 ft/lbs of torque. The 3200 might even damage his stock transmission. Plus if you had that much power I wouldn't recommend it either. I would go for a twin-plate clutch.

Spending your money wisely and get the ACT 2100 or Fidanza 2.1.

There's a lot more you're going to have to do to reach even close to 700 ft/lbs of torque then just simple things. You're going have to rebuild a race block and head, new transmission, fuel system, huge turbo, etc... and that's overall going cost you $15-20 grand. Take me word for it, you have no idea what you're getting yourself into. Do a little research. If you get it now, you'll need to get a new clutch anyways by the time you make your car even close to the much power. You'll regret it for life on the stupid mistake of throwing away $600. So unless your clutch is going out don't change the clutch. Put your money on things that needs to be done or make power first until you need it.

You will HATE a clutch like that. I had an RPS unit like that on my 3kgt and it was rated for about 800 ft/lbs. The car was a nightmare to drive in stop and go traffic. Shortly after installing it, my transmission lost 1 and 2. Before that clutch, I had zero problems with the trans. Use at your own risk.

that clutch will definatly suck for daily driving.. 2600 might even be annoying too.. try and go with a 2100. thats what i have & its not bad at all:thumb:

Way over kill. I have the 2900 and that holds 513lbs of tq. Im use to it now but stop and go is a b!tch. I wish I went for the 2600. You don't want to hurt your stock tranny and end up paying more in the long run.

The guy im getting this clutch from knows his shit when it comes to DSM's.. But about the 12 sec passes with that clutch,IDK??? Thats why I am here seeing if this clutch was overkill.. And the Act 2100 is the clutch I want by the way.. Never really looked into Fidenza for clutches except for ther light flywheel.. Ill check em out.

And its not $600 im throwing away.. More like $250 at the most.. He wants 250 but I think I could have finessed him down with my CIA Negotiating Skills...LOL...

I used to have a ACT 2600 in my other Eclipse GST, and my bro has a 95 TSI AWD too and thats what he's got for clutch.. I actually like it and the stiffness of it.. How is the 2100 all around?? Some people say it feels like stock from what I have read on this forum??

The reason I am looking into clutchs is because I have my tranny taken apart bolt for bolt replacing my bellhousing.. So I figured I would throw on a clutch while I got the tranny off? I had a thread a few weeks back asking for advice on the tranny bellhousing and honestly it wasnt to bad.. But I guess, thatnx for all the replys fellas..

I wouldnt even THINK about a 3200 lb. pressure plate on a 7 bolt.
I am pretty sure the moment you push the clutch in the crank is gonna shoot out the side of your car.

I couldn't agree more!

Becuase you have a 7 bolt I don't know anyone who would really recommend anything higher then a 2100 act clutch and street disc.:nono:

I have seen people put 2600 and higher clutches on there car and just walk the crank to hell and back!

With the horsepower that you have now you don't need anytning above a 2100.

And as for your buddy I don't give him to much credit becuase a 12sec pass could be done all day everyday on a 2100/street disc.ROFL

Even tho that clutch is a steal for some reason 90% or more people here won't need a clutch rated for 700 ft/lbs. especally on a daily.
