can this be fixed? its just small cracks in the clear coat. they arent real big, and arent deep at all. is it possible for the hood to be sanded and re-cleared without ruining the hood? anyone know about how much this would cost?

I had a similar issue with a hood and I took it to a local guy and he fixed it for me for $100. My suggestion is to find a local guy and take it to him and see what he says.

I'm pretty local to you and could fix that pretty easy.If you want and are near northern nj I will have a hood you could borrow for a day or so until I get yours fixed......if you don't find someone local.
edit: I could also pm you a quick walk through on the steps/materials needed if you want to try it yourself.....you can't really mess it up unless you sand through the cf.

no, im def not trying to do it myselg haha. thanks anyways.... but it can def be fixed? im not looking to spend a ton of money, but 100 bucks sounds like it would be worth it easy. anything special have to be done in order to fix or just clear? - what about the UV protection so it doesnt fade, isnt that in the gelcoat along with the clear?

anyone know leo's user name on here? i want to ask him since he works a lot with CF, he would prob know.

uv protection is in the clearcoat you need to use, as long as the cracks don't go through the gelcoat you can just wetsand the clearcoat and respray it. If it did, it will have to be sanded down and re epoxied then cleared. Not the whole hood but just in that area.

Like the Madhatter said it should be able to be easily fixed by a shop that knows what they are doing.

As long as the cracks aren't too deep you can just sand and re-clear.

Worst case scenario is if it gets messed up in sanding you could just paint that section of the hood the same color as your car. Looks like it is just in the middle section there and you could fix the cracks and paint that part red.

painting any part of the hood red is the last thing i want to do. hopefully it can be fixed easily and cheap

Well it's hard to tell from the picture how deep the cracks are but I dont' see any reason why it couldn't be fixed as long as the CF itself isn't screwed up.
