Once upon a time I found a web page with very detailed instructions about a 2g AWD tranny swap with great pictures but I can't find it anymore. It wasn't on this site and if I remember right it had more step-by-step how-to info that this thread:

Thanks for the offer, I am sure I will take you up on it when the time comes. BTW how does it run and drive now after the conversion?

I just made a deal to buy a 95 TSI AWD A/T from a friend of mine and he has slowly accumulated all the parts except for a clutch and one axle to complete the conversion. He never got around to starting and now I am trading him my 01' SS Camaro 6spd for it. I wish I could keep my car but I decided to build a house and money is tight. I have also owner 2 1G AWD DSM's in the past and they all have been 5spd tranny's and a bunch of fun to drive. The car I am buying also has 180k on the clock with the original trans, I figure it's only a matter of time before it pukes on me and I would like to do the swap before that time. I'm sure I can think of a few more reasons but that should do for starters.

It drives and runs just like it came that way. You can't tell the differance and anyone looking form the outside would never know either. The only thing you are left with is a hanress for the Neutral safety switch. That isn't hooked to anything and neatly tucked away under the IC pipes.
