A/T tempurature/fluid level

I was wondering if having too much fluid would cause the temp light to come on? I know that the fluid expands when it gets hot and if the level gets to high will this trigger the light? It happens when I drive 75mph+ for an hour or so, then when I slow to 60-65 it goes back out after a while. It never happend before and only did this after I changed the fluid. I'm wondering if I didn't drain it all the way and put in too much. The fluid smells normal.

I found this write up

The Chrysler 41TE automatic transmission (transaxle)

and it says that trans temp is a calculated number based on other factors, ECT, ambient air temp, load, ect. I'm wondering if your torque converter clutch(TCC)
is locking up at hwy speeds, like it should. Also did you use Genuine SP3 or ATF+4?

I've heard that this trans is sensitive to heat so i'm gonna put a trans cooler I pulled off a Volvo(p/s cooler on volvo)

When you changed the fluid you changed the filter as well right? If not the cleaning agents in the new fluid may have broken up debris & plugged the filter. Have you re-checked the fluid level? Can you feel the converter lock up in O/D? let us know & we can try & help.
