I just got a 1g and went to check the transmission fluid when to my surprise there was no dipstick to be found! Its a '91 5spd turbo... where the hell is it? any help would be nice guys, thanks.

Take the 17mm fill plug out of the front of the trans. The fluid should be level with the bottom of the plug when the car is level. I normally fill the trans through this plug till it starts to run out then wait for the fluid to stop flowing and pop the plug back in.

Can you fill it through the back-up light switch hole. Until it starts to come out the fill plug hole?
It's a lot easier to get to.:hmm:

No. Because the backup switch hole has a the 5th/Rev shift shaft that runs through it. If you did it would take you forever!!
