A soldier once again. (cont.)

Several months ago, I started a thread that was titled "A soldier no more."

Well as of 13 JAN 08. I am back in the army. These past few days have gone smooth, but it still sucks that I have to spend the next year or so away from my family. I will miss my second sons first steps and words. My oldest son doesn't understand that I will be gone for a very long time. Last I talked to my wife my son was asking "Where daddie go?" It breaks my heart.

However, after 2 days here. I was fulfilled with the pride I once felt. I was issued uniforms again. I was actually soughting in misery until I glanced at the mirror and saw myself in uniform. A rush of excitment come over me and I realized how much I miss the army. Also I feel pretty bad ass in fully Personal Protection Gear. The only thing that has sucked so far was I lost my shot records and I got 5 shots within about 1 minute. Including anthrax....ouch.

This unit I am at is only designed in to process me and send me off. Even though I am led by about 5 or 6 Drill Sergeants they are clueless. So far Iraq is out of the question. The odds are I will be in Kuwaitt, Afghanistan or Qatar. Probably not Afghanistan. From now on, when I get on this site. I will start a blog and whoever is intrested can just read that.

Yeah man I understand alot. I am in the Navy also. Have been to Iraq on missions from the USS Roosevelt to support medivacs and special forces insertions with my Helo squadron when I was on cruise. I dont have a wife or kids so I cant say I have felt that, but I still feel like shit when we pull out and peoples families are there crying. Just be safe, and make it home.

I leave in March for my second tour in Iraq. I could only wish i would deploy to Q-west (Qatar) or Afghanistan. Yeah family you will miss. but dont have to worry not ever seeing them again B/C some terrorist blows your truck up on partol.

I the same feelings that I felt when I came back from leave prior to deploying. At least you arent going to Iraq. For now. We were in Sadr City aka the slums of baghdad. Take care.
