i'm currently rebuilding my engine and when i'm done i want to turbo it. i've been looking at the star stage 2 but theres still some questions that i have, and i have not been able to get a straight answer so some help would be great. first off what is the specs of the t3/t4 that comes in the get? next, what kind of hp and boost is this kit capable of throwing down? would there be anything else i would need to get that does not come with the kit? finally, about how much boost can a built 420A handle? it will have all forged internals, ported and polished, 3 angle valve job, and crane or crower cams (havent decided yet). any help would be great.

Most star stage 2 wastegates are set at 8psi. That should be about 250hp. With forged internals, your MOTOR should be able to handle alot of boost. But as you turn the boost up, you will need to replace other things like clutch or axles depending on how high you turn it up. Its also recomended you buy a missing link.

i plan on getting a missing link. i'm also going to get a boost controller will i be able to up the boost then? if so how much can that wastegate handle? i also planned on going with a stage 3 clutch. how much horsepower could i run untill i need to get new axles, and where is the best place to get them? i guess the only thing i need to know now is how much boost can this turbo put out?

You will definatly need a built engine before you add a boost controller. By the time you hit around 300whp you will probably need new axles. The turbo can probably support about 25-30psi. But way before you get to that point, your going to need a LSD due to all the wheel hop your gonna get, A standalone fuel management system, larger injectors, and the list will keep growing.

i'm definetly building the motor. i want to be able to run like 15 pounds of boost, is this possible? about how much hp would i be looking at, at this much boost? i'm going to get a wideband O2 sensor, and the apexi s-afc. would this be enough for what i'm doing?(300whp, @most) what are the best axles to go with?

whats better about the greddy e-manage, and does it work like the afc, and is it easier? also i'm only going for 300whp, and i only need the stage 2 axles, their good for 300-400hp, and are $700 for the pair.

Yeah I meant stage 2 sorry i havent been to that site in awhile. The E-manage is alot better than the afc, and wont advance timing as much; plus it has a ton of more options, so it is currently the best / closest piggyback you can get next to a stand alone. period.

You can also try a unit known as 'Megasquirt', which is fairly inexpensive, but you will need some knowledge on putting it together, buying the right sensors for it and such. It is similiar ot a stand alone, and you have to build it.

i looked at the e-manage and i like what i seen, but i'm a little confused on how it works. how do you get the information into the unit, since its not set up like a s-afc where you can use the controls on the actual device. and how do you know how much fuel to add or subtract to get a good air/fuel mix? is it basically guess and check or is there a general guidline for different cars?

Good questions. An e-01 unit that GReddy sells can help you tune it correctly, or you can hook it up to a labtop for more flexibility. Theres menus and such that you can look at via the e-01 monitor to check the fuel/air ratio mix. You of course dyno tune it like any other piggyback or stand alone unit. I dont want to mislead any information at this point. Look for "Jamesman" on 2gnt.com ; he's an expert on NA-turbo dsm with e-manage setup; and just PM him. He'll be happy to help.

I just got a star stage 2. Do you have to have a boost controller to up the boost or can you just adjust the wastegate or something?

my star stage II has a deltamark wastegate with a number 8 sticker, cranked all the way down I only saw 6 lbs of boost (maybe because of the FMIC?) so an inexpensive MBC is no big deal to get and install.

Im still rocking 8, dunno if Im gonna rebuild or not, if you rebuild dontcha hafta put like 5,000 miles on the car to break in the engine?
