Well i need a little help again .... can some 1 tell me exactly what it takes to put a 1g turbo on to a 2g car? My friend was given a 1g turbo and was told it will push more air then his 2nd gen and also a stock exhaust mani. and im going to port and polish them but like in my earlier post im not a dsm owner so im not to sure on what all is needed to install the 1g turbo on to the 2nd gen and this is his Daily driver so i cant really "Experiment" with it so i figured i would ask all you DSM gurus . once again any help is appreciated (btw i do know how to search and i did search but didnt really find what i was looking for) -Joseph

you will need a basic install kit if you want to take the safe route

the 2G manifold and o2 housing are better than the 1G counterparts but they will require porting for optimal performance (the turbo too). Also make sure the turbo came off a 5spd 1G because this is known as a 14B (405cfm) this is what flows more than the 2G T-25 (250cfm). You can tell this by looking on the housing it should say TD05H and the turbine wheel should be single bladed and have about 8 blades. If the housing says TD04H SAY AWAY this is a 13G and is just as crappy as the T-25 :dsm:

Guys i appreciate it very much.... you have been a great help -joseph

If you don't want to spend all of the money on an install kit, there are ways to purchase used parts...you'll need:
-a J pipe
-oil and water lines
-new gaskets, unless you choose to reuse the old ones

You very well may be able to find these items used for less money than a $200+ install kit that costs more than the turbo.
