A quick Camshaft question. Are the cams in a 98 eclipse the same as the cams in the 95 eclipse?
Thanks Nick

Yes they are the same. The turbo cams in the 1g are a little bit bigger nothing I would tear down the engine to mod. If the engine was apart they would be worth putting in though.

Well i was told that they are different and was not sure if they were or not. I was going to put the 98 eclipse ones in my 95 eclipse but someone told me that they were different. So i kept my 95 cams in the head and they are warped some how and i have a set of 98 eclipse cams laying around so i need to know if they are the same.
Thanks Nick

Are there different Cam Angle Sensors on a 98 eclipse than a 95 Eclipse? Well i had the cam laid on its side with the cam gear on it for like 3 weeks. So i checked it out and it looked strait, but i put it in the head and it was really hard to turn compared to the other one. So i am just guessing that the possible warped cam would be the reason why it was not turning easily. Do you think that is right too?
Thanks Nick

No way man. Cams are made from hardened steel they don't flex or bend unless a ton of heat is involved so that it changes the properties of the metal. besides camshafts have to deal with the stresses of putting a valve down at 7500rpm. you need to look at the camshaft and see if there is visible scratches or especially in the journals for the head where the camshafts rotate. Put in some assembly lube, (read auto zone or NAPA) and it should be okay. maybe you should post some pictures of the cams and the journals. Check and make sure it is not binding in any way. Make sure the torque specs are right on the cam caps.

Well it is a rebuilt head that i put the cams into, They came out of a head that had some issues (that would not effect the cams)but was working when i took it off. I made sure to put a lot of assembly lube on them when i put them in. I remember the torque specs. on them they are at 20lbs and thats what i did with all of the caps. What else could be causing this? The other cam moves like it should and i did not do any thing different with the one that wont.
Thanks Nick
