if i would route my air duct from my a/c compressor to my intake, would i notice a gain in performance, or would the a/c belt take more power than it will give?

I dont think it works like that.
there isnt an Air duct.

perhaps you mean find a way to run the Freon gas ( i know its not freon anymore) into a sort of contraption to cool the intake air,

it seems to me it would be more of a restriction for the air than the colder air would benifit.
its going to suck more air that the compresor can blow.

There is no duct running from your AC compressor and this is a dumb idea. Never mention this again. Never, ever again, okay?

Thank you.

I believe he is talking about routing the interior air vent duct from the dash into the engine compartment. Therefore, providing the air intake with cooler, denser air. I think he had a great idea. The problem with this will be that the added rotating mass from the A/C compressor will decrease performance. Even though the cooler, denser air will help in combustion, there will be no way to balance the two out enough to provide increased performance.

Another idea would be to build a intake filter heat shield keeping hot engine temperatures away from the intake, for the most part. If you want, do a search on this site for members that have built/bought one. See if any of them have had reduced intake temps from this modification (look for Palm Pilot log numbers). Why do you think so many tuners remove their passenger headlight at the dragstrip. Cooler intake temperatures of course!

How about next time we use constructive criticism instead.

The problem is that you'd need a Thermo-King unit off a 53' reefer van to make a difference. The little postage-stamp sized evaporator used to reduce the 150 cubic feet of the passenger cabin from 125°F to 75° over fifteen minutes won't much frighten the 225°+ temps of the turbo compressor outlet at 300 cu. ft/min.
It's a good idea, there's just not enough thought behind it.
What reasonably can be done on cars is being done. If you've never heard of it, the reason probably isn't because you're a creative genius who's devised The Solution.
