A/C Fan Broken?

Yesterday on my way home from work while sitting in traffic i start to over heat, but when driving it cools back down so it must be a fan. I shut down the a/c turned on the heater and i made it home.
At home i checked the fans. Driver side fan is not turning i added some water to the reservoir and figured i could make it to work in the morning and get a new radiator cap (see pic)

On my way home today it was overheating so I stopped at a gas station pulled the radiator cap and its dry (reservoir is still full). She took a full gallon of water and was running cool with A/C on all the way home.

Should I still replace the fan or just leave it alone?

First your going to need to get the water out of your cooling system, cause water corrodes everything bad while driving. Second check the fans operation during its duty cycle as the coolant temp warms. Then if it's not coming on check voltage going to the fans and you should then be able to figure it out from there.

Well I was going to suggest checking the under-hood relay that switches the ac fan on and off, but in your video, you apparently by-passed the relay and hooked the fan right to the battery and it still did nothing. Yep, sure I would put in a new fan. My ac fan died at ~140,000 miles and mine is a northwest car - we hardly need ac around here. Hey that's a thought, move to Seattle and take the friggin ac off the car . I took mine off, the only reason I wanted the ac fan to work was because my main fan had died, and I wanted to cover for it temporarily by jumpering the ac fan to run all the time. The ac fan died after only a few drives like that.
Another check you can do is measure the resistance of the fan motor with your multi-meter. If the motor is ok, it should be only a few ohms, very low anyway, I don't remember the number. If it is bad the resistance would be a lot higher.

How do i measure the resistance of the fan motor. What connections do i make and what settings do i use on the multi-meter.

Well you would disconnect the fan wires at the connector that I imagine is somewhere near the fan. You don't want the fan wires connected to anything but the meter. So now with that connector apart, you can get at the 2 metal contacts in there, put one meter probe on each one. It doesn't even matter + or - for this. The meter you would want set to read ohms (omega symbol - like a horseshoe) on the lowest scale you have. You would be expecting a reading of a few ohms on a good motor. The idea of the test is that when a dc motor burns out, there is some electrical component in the motor that has turned to crap, and it will then not conduct electricity very well if at all, so will have much higher resistance than a good motor.
Be careful with the meter when you have it set to ohms. Don't touch the probes to any live voltage source like a battery or live circuit.

By the way in your video, I couldn't tell what the heck you did really, so it's possible that test you did might be wrong.

I replaced the Radiator fan motor for $47 plus $10 for wire connectors and washers. Now it spins when i turn on the a/c. Problem solved.
Next weekend flush and fill.

Wow, good deal. Where did you get a motor for 47 bucks? I thought it might cost more.
