What's up guys. So it's summertime and today was really hot. I hate turning the a/c cause I like my windows down but I just got my tints redone and can't roll them down for a few days. So I turned it on and heard a noise when it turned on then I'm giving it gas and it would not go as fast as would with the a/c off. Any suggestions and ways to fix this?

Several

1. Don't drive it until you can roll the windows down
2. Pretend you're trying to set a gas mileage record using minimal throttle.
3. Leave the windows up and enjoy the power you have without A/C

Ways to fix it is to not use the ac. These engines don't make a ton of torque and the ac compressor takes some to turn so you will feel a power loss. There is no way around that other than making more power, or not using the ac.

Ya, compressors steals almost 15 hp off the front pulley due to the six pistons within the compressor pushing and pulling the heavy R-12 freon oil within the system.

4cyl motors and AC weren't really made for each other back then.
Now, compressor construction has drastically improved along with using R-134A fluid that this new combination has made it easier for 4cyl motors to work with AC units- which has now been a standard install for many new vehicles.
