A bit frustrated....

Hello,

I just got my 1g back together yesterday, I had the head rebuilt because of a burnt valve.

Started up and ran good with all the typical new head sounds...

It is mostly stock now, replaced the manifold with a 2g, new gaskets all around, all tubing is good.

I took it for a couple of test rides and it seemed to be running good. I am VERY NEW to these cars so I am learning as I go.

I shut the car down and about 10 min later I go out and start it, seems to be ok, I pull out of my driveway and it is running like crap. No power, felt like 2 cylinders, check engine light also turned on.

Back into the garage I go, let it sit for a bit, checked compression, just because everything is fine. Started it back up and seemed to be running fine. But the check engine light came back on after about 4 mins of idling.

The air filters is bad and I know needs to be replaced but other then that most of the stuff is new. Any suggestions??

Oh yea it was about -10F when I had it on the test run..

Try a boost leak test if you don't know what that is then a quick search will provide you with more information than I could type.

It would also be helpful to know the code that the car is throwing. If you search the term keydance you'll find a technique for determining codes without a code reader.

Finally for future reference use a descriptive thread title, people who know how to fix your issue will be able to find your thread and in the future it will be easier for others who have the same issue to find how to fix it quickly without waiting for a reply.

I'd agree. Eliminate the possibility of a boost leak issue. That cold outside at start up, then everything warming up, it's possible something may have a slight leak since the reassembly, and became apparent after operating temperature.
