So I was doing some reading and everything on vfaq and here states that the dual piston caliper set up from any gsx 92+ would be a direct bolt on for any of the FWD models (minus the difference in the brake line connections). Anyways, so I figured I'd do the upgrade, so I purchased a set of 99 gsx front calipers (w/ brackets), pads, and rotors for my 97 gst spyder and tried to install them this past weekend when I ran into a little problem: the holes on the control arm and the holes on the gsx bracket don't line up. The brackets holes are set about a centimeter farther away from each other in either direction than the corresponding holes on the control arm. Has anyone else run into this problem and is there any solution to this other than buying a whole new set of calipers? Thanks in advance.

(pictures soon to come)

Are you sure you actually have GSX calipers and brackets? There is only one 2g front knuckle.

(actually there are two. ABS/Non-ABS)

ok, my mistake on the knuckle/control arm thing. In any case, I'm sure I have the GSX brackets and calipers but are you saying that if the donor car was ABS and I'm not then it won't fit? If that's true, could I, in theory, buy the correct brackets and keep the same calipers?

btw, thanks for the quick responses. :thumb:

They should fit. And I thought the brackets on the 2g brakes were part of the caliper itself.

GSX 92+ brakes fit on a 2g? 1g brakes fit a 2g? If that's the case there is a brake kit for the 1g's I want to get that they don't offer for the 2g. :(

Well, yeah, the brackets are a separate peice but they are intended for a certain caliper and are usually packaged together.

I was just curious if the bracket for the non ABS would fit a caliper that came off of an ABS car so I can just swap out the bracket and not the caliper itself. (assuming that thats the reason the holes don't line up)

Oh yeah, and it's 93+ GSXs. Sorry bout that. here's a link to the info on the upgrade: http://www.vfaq.com/mods/BigBrakesInfo.html

The brakes have the same mounting points and the knuckles are identical except for the ABS sensor.

hmm so basically, the only answer that makes sense is that i was sent the wrong calipers then? I have some pictures now so that may help confirm that.

Yeah, really odd but thanks for your help guys. So, do you think I can keep the calipers themselves and just get new brackets? or would the new brackets not fit the calipers?
