2G 99 ecu on 96 talon help

New here and a little lost

I need help... I have a 96 talon tsi, I want to put a 99 ecu on it to reflash it, what I have to do?

Not really sure what your question is. You have a reflashable 99 ecu you want to put into a 96. For what reason? What are you trying to accomplish? Need more info. Also, unless you're running link the 99 will throw an I/M CEL most likely.

^^You can tune the 99 ECU. You can't run Ecmlink on a flashable ECU.

OP, as for installing the 99 ECU in your 96 I bought a 1g CAM sensor and used that instead of the stock one on my 95. You can also switch to a stock 97-99 CAM sensor but that will require the cam to be drilled and tapped unless you have a stock 2gb cam. The stock CAM sensor on the 95-96 don't place nice with the 98-99 ECU's.

Sorry I was drunk when I read/posted that. So all you have to do is swap cam sensors with a 1g? That actually works? Good to know.

What are the benefits put in a 97 to 99 ECU into a 95 96 gst or Gsx car.

I have a 95 gsx with a 1g cas with the plug play harness but my motor is a 97 is at ok with at set up or its bad to do at set up.

You could buy the 6 bolt swap harness.

The benefits would be that the 98/99 black box ecu is flashable and its less expensive than ecmlink.
