99 eclipse gst computer, bad?

Pulled my comp ### nothing else seems to change my high idle. Looks like something may have happened to my computer, but I'm not sure.

Note the silver/rust spotted squares. I think these are signs of a bad board. Can anyone help me?

I've checked tps, iac, and neither of those seem to affect the idle.

Seriously? No one can help me with this? I really need this car on the road. I'm tired of throwing money at it and playing guessing games as to what all is wrong with the electrical system.

Tomorrow I'm pulling my alternator and getting it tested. Hoping that the regulator is bad and causing some if not all my problems.

I'm at a loss and don't want to sell it already.

I have an extra ECM computer out of a 99 GS that I could sell if that is of any help. Otherwise good luck with diagnosing the problem....hope it is an easy fix!

When its running unhook the iac plug and see if it idles up or make no change at all. Mine was bad and would not let the car idle down. I changed it and no more issues. Have you checked for vaccumm leaks or boost leaks? Boost leak test?

Sweetleaf- Thanks, but as far as I know it wont work with my car because mine is a turbo.

Muddfisher85- I've tested the tps, iac, mass air flow. I don't think a boost leak would cause my surging lights. Might contribute to my idle issue though.

I have another thread about my electrical system being messed up. Its only when the "anti lock" light comes on that the electrical system acts funny. If I pull the negatives off the battery and let it sit a while, it seems to reset the system for a short time.

My high idle is a mystery to me. I used to be able to bump the throttle and it'd idle down to about 1300, but now it don't matter what I do, it stays at or above 2000.

Anyone with ANY ideas, please post them. I need all the help I can get at this point!!

Definately check your charging system. I know that electrical load (charging system draw) effects the idle characteristics in 2G cars. Also . . . any dtc`s ? I had a P1500 code before which turned out to be a bad connection at the alternator plug-in harness. While that was happening, I also experienced an erratic idle & fluctuating charging output voltage. located & repaired the bad connection & it all worked normally again (idle also). I suspect a failing alternator will have similar symptoms.

Yeah I just had a p1500 for a cracked manifold.

I know how you feel bro.
I had this problem and took me 1 month to find the problem.
My problem was an exhaust leak between the head and O2 sensor.
If you have any exhaust leak on those areas, it will definitely bump up your idle.
The O2 sensor will detect a lean condition because of the exhaust leaking and will add some fuel to compensate, which it will bump up the idle.
I hope this helps.

I appreciate everyone's help! Turned out it was the alternator. Never have experienced those symptoms from a bad alternator. Anyway, thanks again!!!

Guys, I have the same problem we've checked everything. How do I check alternator? if it's not throwing 14.4 is bad?

I think 14.4 is too high for our cars stock alternator.. If you alternator is bad, then I would look into this modification. 2GNT.com Forums - Viewing topic - Saturn 2.4 alternator swap.

Thanks man, I will check that tomorrow and see what happens. For the moment I'm thinking of the ECU, sometimes it makes like clicking noises when it lowers the rpm and shuts off

Yeah, I would assume the ecu as well. Do you have a 95 Eclipse or 96 up?.. 95 420a ecu's have a lot of problems.. Thats why people swap them for 96 and up.. (Forget this post. I saw ## name was Mike420a so I thought we were talking about a 420a.) Your name has got me and Sweetleaf scratching our heads.
