I read an old post about exaust for a 95 Eclipse and I figured I would start a new one and maybe get some help. I am thinking about a Tanabe exaust system for my car, is this a good choice or should I go with another brand? I have seen and heard a car with Tanabe exaust on it, and it sounded pretty good to me. Some input would help me out a little bit!
 
there have been hundreds of threads regarding exhausts for 2g's. i believe tanabe is more for hondas and sorts of cars like that. are you looking for just a muffler, or catback, or turboback? i had a buschur 3inch exhaust on my old talon and it sounded bad and looked nice too. however it was expensive, if you are looking for a cheaper exhaust try rnr, they have sales going on right now
 
I was thinkin maybe a catback system. One of my friends that knows a lot about cars said that a catback system would sound the best. I have this HUGE thing against cars that sound like pissed off bees, and I definatly don't want that for my car. I am looking for sound and performance, looks would be nice too. :cool:
 
apexi n1s are overpriced, you can get a similar exhaust for way cheaper. if your looking for just the catback i would go with either thermal r&d or magnaflow, both these exhaust have a nice deep tone, no rice sound to them like i have heard apexi sounds like
 
Just buy a stainless steel 3" cat-back. Generic is fine...

I put together a turbo back system, just bought a 3" SS downpipe and 3" generic N1 rip off catback (ss), its all held up fine, the muffler is a little ricey for my tastes though.

How is it "more for hondas and sorts of cars like that"? Please explain. I have the 3" Tanabe SRM cat-back and love it. The quality is top-notch, and it doesn't sound like any other exhaust I've heard on a DSM, definitely unique. You will not get the bumble-bee sound on a turbo car, that is an NA thing. The only thing about the Tanabe I don't like is that is necks down to 2.5" to bolt to the stock cat. I have a 2.5" downpipe and test pipe so it doesn't really bother me, but those wanting a true 3" turbo-back system would have to cut and weld about 3" of pipe.

exactly thats why i said honda's(NA) notice how most of the guys on this site with turbo dsm's are smart about exhaust and usually go with a cheaper exhaust then the more expensive because on turbo cars it doesnt really matter what you get as long as its a big exhuast and is mandrel bent instead of pressbent, however most of the n/t dsmers spend gobs of money on exhaust like apexi and others and they just sound like hondas. i am not bashing tanabe or apexi exhaust im just explaining that these exhaust are too overpriced and you can find another generic brand for way cheaper and sound just as good if not better
