98 eclipse

Hey everyone im trying to help my friend decide to either turbo his 98 GS or get a GST engine and do a swap. I think the swap is the best bet but if he kept the GS engine what kind of boost could he run with a evo16g with sup mods. Also what is the engine 420a or 4g63?? I own a 3000gt VR4 so i dont know too much about eclipses.....Just want to see another mitsu go fast!!!!! I would appreciate the help.

Between the two options, turboing the current engine would be cheaper and easier than swapping in an already turboed one. The engine he currently has is a 420a. The 420a can support in the area of 6 psi safely on stock internals.

So he couldnt run a evo 16g unless he had a wastegate that was at 6psi.......also would a 4g63 drop into a 98?

ok i answered the second part of my question. Does jdm sell 420a or can you only find them in the US. Sorry for the questions......i have a feeling im going to be on this site alot.

420a are USDM..They are Dodge/Chrysler engines...

4g63 will not swap into a 2gnt bay. A simple search would have told you that right off the bat. Secondly, stock 420a is good for between 8 and 10 psi. Depending on the current condition of the motor. A quick compression test can give you some insight. An easy solution would be to grab a wastegate actuator from a 14b and attatch it to your 16g(if you were to run this turbo). They are originally set for 8-9 psi.
