420A 98 Eclipse RS problem

I have a 98 Eclipse RS 420a barely bought the car 3 weeks ago 141,000 miles on it. I used the car and the SRS and brake and battery light came on. Went were I had to go I had no problem, I parked my car came back about an hour and 30mins turn my car on but it didn't start no clicks nothing. I tried it again and 2nd time started engine running good I noticed SRS, brake, battery, lights where off but my headlights and dashboard lights and back lights all my car lights were flickering shaking but not to much. Can you guys help me out on this sounds like a electric problem I think.

First check your battery connections make sure they're tight and clean then check the alternator connections then the alternator itself.

What do I check on the alternator, the volts? How do I check it?
