97 rear diff work in a 98 car?-talon

ok, my rear diff. blew out on my 98 talon, i bought a 97 talon rear diff. assuming that it is identical to the 98 rear diff. Does anyone know if a 97 rear diff. will work in a 98 car, or are the gears different in the two?

they are the same as long as it for the tranny at and mt ar different also you can check on the back of the diff and make sure the GR is the same mt's are 3.454 if i remember correctly

Manual and automatic transmissions have different rear-end gearing so make sure you have the correct one for your car. (I can't tell what you have-you need to fill out your profile) Other than that, you should be good to go.

Not to try to steal the thread but Im buying a rear diff off a member on here and luckily my rear diff just crapped the bed today moving it in the driveway. I took it for a quick drive and i couldnt get any traction rear diff is completely shot. when your breaking the front tires loose at 65mph haha not a good sign. Nothing wrong with the transfer case or anything. Put it in gear cant turn the drive shaft. I take it out and it moves about 2 inches until it stops cause of the front tires. Good thing i decided to buy that rear end. Which reminds me I gotta go bakc outside and take out the rear diff haha.
