97 head in a 95? Can i just replace the cas w/ a 97 cas? Same sending info?

If i want to install a 97 head on a 95 can i just take my 97 cas and wiring out and swap it with the 95? I realise i wil have to swap cam gears too.

The 95's had different sensors for the crank and cam than the 97+. The head itself is a direct replacement and you can just drop it on. The cam gears are also the same. You can either re-use your 95 sensors or you can use the 97 CAS, but I believe you will have to put the spark plugs in reverse order as well as the injector plugs since the signal is now inverted.

No most of that is incorrect. The cam gears are not the same since the 95 intake gear is used with the cas. Because of this no i cant just use the 95 sensors without having machine work done to my head to fit the 95 cas. I can however put the head in the 95 and wire in a 97 cas in which case yes the signals will be inverted. Also a possiblility is running a 1g cas in which it reads every 4x instead of two and both the crank and cam sensor are one sensor. This however often leads to a random misfire.

You should be able to swap the intake cam gear off the 95 head onto the 97 head. Then just re-use all your 95 wiring and CPS stuff.

i have aftermarket cams though and the 97 head is built? My problem is really i have a 97 gs-t and a 95 with a spun bearing trying to put my 95 head on my gs-t block and put it back to stock to sell. Then to put 97 head on a built shortblock in the 95, but now i run into a problem with both cars as far as cas goes and im trying to figure out best way to do it. Like would it be better to swith the wirring from both cars and then just have both cars inverted plug wires? Or keep 97 stuff on 97 and find another 97 cas and wire it to 95 and then just have that one inverted?
