This is my buddies 97 gst spyder automatic.

Runs fine when not under boost. As soon as you hit 1psi or more its bogs down BAD and smokes pretty good. It doesnt stutter or anything. Changed plugs and wires. I dont know if there are any sensors i need to check or what. The car looks bone stock. Stock airbox and all. Guys, any help would be awesome.

If it's blue smoke, you're burning oil. Since the car is fine with no boost, the symptoms are of the turbo going bad.

If it's black smoke, you're running rich because of massive boost leaks.

Do a boost leak check either way. The stock intercooling route is made of crappy plastic and hose. I had a huge crack at the bracket holding the plastic UICP to the body, right after the intercooler and could only build ~2 psi with a BLT.

NGK BPR6ES, those are the plugs i used. Its black smoke. My 95 ran the same way when i put 550s in it without my SAFC first. So i kinda of figured it was running rich, just didnt know why. I will definately do a boost leak test on it asap.

unless its running so rich to the point is has screwed up performance. To me it just sounds like boost leak too, i dont think you have to worry.
LOL I'm sure it's no big deal since he probably has few extra turbos lying around. :toobad:
