I found a nice looking 97 gst on Craigslist. It looks good but says it needs a tune. He also says CEL is on because its 95 motor and need some rewire...Just wondering if this is a good buy. I have an extra 2k I can throw at it if need be. Please advise if this is a decent buy. Here is the original ad 1997 eclipse gst:

I have a 1997 eclipse gst with 106, xxx miles on it with NO RUST.. asking cheap for it cause it runs rich and needs to be tuned to run good. Just put a act 2100lb clutch in it and shifts good.

3500 is a little steep for me. Its hard to say what id pay for a car without actually looking at it in person but If I was buying that car I wouldnt spend no more then 2500.

I just paid $2000 for a 99 GST with 73k miles and a grinding 5-speed tranny. Seems like you could ask under $3k for it.

I dont buy into the whole speeding ticket thing, ###### cant get it running right and is sick of it.

In my opinion, I would offer him about $2600, given that it drives good and is mechanically sound, and actually is "rust free." Nobody on this site can really tell you to buy it or not without going to actually look at it. If I were you, I would check it out for yourself. It looks to be in pretty good shape from the pictures.
